Jens Pulver is slated to headline Titan Fighting Championship 18 on May 27 on HDNet, but it will be against a different opponent than he had originally planned, and at a different weight.
The former UFC lightweight champion will drop down to a 140-pound catch weight to face Strikeforce and Bellator veteran Brian Davidson at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kan.
Pulver’s original opponent, Mike Powell, was removed from the bout due to getting TKO’d recently at an event in North Dakota. The Kansas Athletic Commission retracted its approval of the bout due to the TKO, which happened on April 23.
Davidson (6-3) had originally gone into retirement following a 54-second knockout of Shane Hutchison at Bellator 32 in October, but couldn’t resist the opportunity to fight someone of Pulver’s stature.
Pulver (24-14-1) has won his last two fights and hopes to continue the trend against Davidson. Prior to that, he was on a horrific skid where he lost six straight fights. The skid cost him his job with Zuffa in the WEC and nearly sent him into retirement.
Officials on Wednesday also released the latest Titan Fighting Championship 18 fight card:
-Jens Pulver (24-14-1) vs. Brian Davidson (6-3)
-Drew McFedries (9-6) vs. Darryl Cobb (6-2)
-Rory Markham (16-6) vs. Rudy Bears (12-7)
-Joe Wilk (11-5) vs. Jesse Zeugin (5-1)
-John Ott (8-8) vs. Mike Glynn (5-5)
-Bobby Cooper (5-3) vs. Nick Budig (5-1)
-Sean Wilson (27-15) vs. Deryck Ripley (11-19)
