Default Dan Hardy and Chris Lytle ‘Excited’ To Face Off; Bout Expected for UFC on Versus 5 - 05-11-2011, 11:35 PM

Dan Hardy UFCFireworks are sure to explode when Dan Hardy gets his wish in August. He will face fellow heavy-handed welterweight Chris Lytle at UFC on Versus 5.

Hardy confirmed the fight with MMAWeekly Radio on Tuesday, but a date hadn’t been determined for the bout. It’s now been revealed by ESPN.com that the bout will happen at UFC on Versus 5 in August.

Hardy originally believed the fight was going to take place at a show in England in October, but the bout will now get moved up to August instead. It also appears that the two welterweights have already talked about the fight, and both are going to be looking for the knockout.

“I actually spoke to Chris as well. He’s really excited about it, so I think that’s going to go ahead,” Hardy said. “I’m ready to fight whenever. My weight’s good and I’m in shape.”

Hardy is in a tough spot coming into the August fight having dropped three fights in a row, so the English born fighter will be making a few changes ahead of his next bout with Lytle. While he will still train in England, Hardy has relocated to Las Vegas and will be working with UFC heavyweight Roy Nelson while he’s in the United States.

Meanwhile, Lytle was on a great run in the welterweight division with four wins in a row, but was surprised by late replacement Brian Ebersole at UFC 127 in Australia. Lytle will hope to get back on track when he faces Hardy in Milwaukee.

The bout will take place at the UFC on Versus 5 show at the Bradley Center in the promotion’s debut in Wisconsin.
